For over 300 years, Freemasons around the world have been an integral part of their communities, families, and the world at large. We are the oldest fraternity in the world, open to men with good character and a strong moral compass.
Today, there are more than four million Masons worldwide, and some two million in North America. They come from every walk of life, from many religions and many diverse ideologies. All believe in the existence of a Supreme Being and meet as friends and brothers, in peace and harmony. This is one of the great fascinations of Masonry and one of its great strengths.
Masonry is based on the belief that each man has a responsibility to help make the world a better place. Also known as freemasonry, we are the world’s first and largest fraternity. Freemasons are a brotherhood of like-minded men who are honest and genuinely care about each other. We develop lifelong friendships with other Masons and their families, and are welcomed at Masonic lodges throughout Toronto and the world.
Our membership consists of brothers from various religions, ethnicities, ages, and educational backgrounds. We strive for harmony in our lives, lodge, and community. We take responsibility for the well-being of each other, our families, and the community in which we live, and the world as a whole. We provide relief through our philanthropic efforts and community involvement.
Although we are not a religion, we require that our members believe in a “Supreme Being”. We say “Supreme Being” because we do not mean a particular Christian, Catholic, Muslim, or Jewish God, but YOUR belief in YOUR interpretation of a Supreme Being. That gives us the foundation on which to help build your character, ethics and outlook, to make YOU better than you are.
We strive to become a better version of ourselves and continue our pursuit of knowledge through continuous studies of the liberal arts and sciences.
Dedicated to the Brotherhood of Man, Freemasonry’s singular purpose is to make good men better. Not better than someone else, but better within themselves. Masonry teaches that each person has an obligation to make a difference for good.
Freemasonry is kindness in the home, honesty in business, courtesy in society, fairness in work, concern for the unfortunate and respect for one another.
Masonry is a philosophy for life In simple terms, Masonry is primarily an educational institution teaching a moral way of life and an ethical code of behaviour based on the Golden Rule: “always do to others what you would have others do to you.” Through a disciplined and systematic course of self-improvement a Mason endeavours to become a ‘better man’- self exploration, self discovery, self-analysis, self-realization, and self-fulfilment. Masonry caters to the intellectual and spiritual needs of the individual by pointing a man in the right direction, and the helping to guide his way in his quest for greatness, deeper insight and fuller understanding, relief, truth and brotherly love.
Men who are 21 years of age, good morals and sound judgement, to be a Mason you must ask a Mason first. We do not actively solicit.
